What happened to wax and sealants?

Once upon a time, wax was the go to choice to maintain a vehicles’ shine and protect paint from harsh elements. The bad news is however, that wax isn’t durable and ought to be applied numerous times per year. On top of that, some environmental contaminants including harsh soaps can remove the wax from paint, leaving your paint unprotected.

There are waxes and sealants that are synthetic and last several months. Sealants are simple to apply, but they don’t offer the equivalent shine of a good wax.

What is ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating was invented in the mid 2000’s by chemists and has been improved throughout the years. The silica-based liquid polymer is carefully applied to the paint by hand to bond, and creates a hydrophobic layer of protection. If you properly maintain your paint, the ceramic coating can be effective for several years!

Advantages of ceramic coating?

Ceramic coating protects your paint from dirt, grime, dust, elements, and environmental contaminants. A great benefit of ceramic coating is the long-lasting protection it provides compared to other options. It also creates a hydrophobic layer which helps maintain your vehicle cleaner between washes.

Misconceptions of ceramic coatings?

A lot of people believe once they have ceramic coating on their paint, their vehicle becomes invincible. Ceramic coating does protect your paint to a certain degree, but won’t make your paint bulletproof against deep scratches, rocks, or tree sap. Coated vehicles do require proper maintenance in order to lengthen the longevity of the ceramic, which includes applying a ceramic spray. If not maintained, the coating will deteriorate within time.

FYI…

Even though ceramic coating is semi-permanent; it cannot be simply wiped off and reapplied. Ceramic coatings should only be applied by a professional. If the proper steps haven’t been followed before applying ceramic coating, you’re not obtaining the full benefits of the coating. In addition, if the person applying the ceramic coating makes a mistake, or an object touches the surface before the coating has completely cured, the area must be machine polished, and the coating must be reapplied. If the coating hasn’t been removed within a timely matter, it’ll create blemishes.

The longer the durability of the ceramic coating, the more difficult it is to apply.

Ceramic Coating FAQ

Do you come to me?

In order for us to apply ceramic coating to a vehicle, it has to be in a customers’ garage with enough space to work around the vehicle or our vendor’s garage in the city of La Habra for an additional price.

My clear coat is damaged. Can you replace my clear coat with ceramic coating?

Negative. If your clear coat is fading or chipping, your only solution will be to repaint.

Why is ceramic coating so expensive?

Before we apply ceramic coating to a vehicle, we have to wash it and prep it correctly in order for the coating to bond to the paint. The most crucial part is the prep work, which is tedious and labor intensive to improve the condition of the paintwork. Not to mention, the job takes between 15-24 hours to complete.

I don’t want the clay bar service or paint correction. Can you apply just the ceramic coating?

We won’t apply ceramic coating to any vehicle without taking the right procedures first. By doing so, you’re not obtaining the full benefits of the coating and you’ll be throwing money away.

Do I have to wait a certain amount of time to wash my vehicle after it has been ceramic coated?

Yes, after the coating has been applied, you’ll have to wait 48 hours in order for the coating to bond to your paint. We recommend not washing your vehicle for the first two weeks. The first wash will be complimentary on us so we can verify how the coating is holding up.
